The project involved the development of two levels in an historic property in downtown Halifax for the use as a retail property. We removed 3 feet of bedrock from lower level, installed underpins and support buttress work, installed a drainage system and poured a new concrete floor. A suspended steel and concrete floor slab on the second level was also removed. The demolition and rock removal had to be carried out in a building that had numerous business offices, restaurants, and a hotel. Noise and dust control measures were used, as well as a time schedule to not interfere with the tenants. We are highly skilled at removing concrete and rock from under and around structures. We are also licensed and own "Boulder Busting" equipment. Boulder Busting is a technique of breaking large rock located under a structure with no damage to the structure.
